Short answer: most Northern Colorado homes we quote land between about $3,500 and $7,000. That works out to roughly $32–$40 per foot of roofline, all-in (lights, track, controller, professional installation and tax). Your price depends mostly on how many feet you light. Every home is measured and quoted for free.
Typical prices by roofline length
| Roofline lit | Typical all-in price* | About per foot |
|---|---|---|
| ~100 ft (front of a smaller ranch) | ~$3,800 | ~$38 |
| ~150 ft (front of a typical 2-story) | ~$5,300 | ~$35 |
| ~200 ft (front + sides) | ~$6,800 | ~$34 |
| ~250 ft (most of the house) | ~$8,300 | ~$33 |
*Rounded estimates at current pricing for a single-controller system with standard access. Your written quote is the only real number.
A real example: a 145-foot roofline we installed in Windsor this year came to about $4,700 all-in, roughly $32 a foot.
Why price per foot drops on bigger homes
Every system needs one controller (the "brain") mounted inside your garage, and that costs the same whether you light 80 feet or 250. On a small job the controller is a bigger share of the total, so the per-foot price is higher.
What moves the price up or down
- Feet of roofline. This is the biggest factor by far.
- Number of separate runs. Disconnected sections, like a detached garage or a separate wing, may need extra wiring or a second controller.
- Height and access. Steep pitches, three-story walls and tricky gables take more time.
- Peaks and gables. Every up-and-down adds feet.
- Power location. The control box needs an outlet in the garage.
Permanent lights vs hiring someone to hang lights every year
Seasonal installers typically charge every year to hang and take down. Permanent lights cost more up front, but you pay once and use them year-round: Christmas, Halloween, the Fourth, game days and everyday warm white. Do the math over the years you plan to stay in the home. If you'd only ever use lights for four weeks, seasonal can be cheaper. If you'd use them all year, or hire a hanger every year, permanent usually wins over time.
What you get for the money (TruLight specs, from thetrulight.com)
- 6 LEDs in each light: 3 color plus 3 dedicated warm white, for about 16 million colors and a true warm white.
- Spacing: lights about 8–9 inches apart, and every light individually addressable.
- 48V system.
- App control: thousands of patterns, 144 effects, music sync, zones and timers.
- LED rating: 100,000 hours. That's a rating, not a guarantee.
- Warranty:
- Years 0–5: full replacement of the lights and control box.
- After year 5: lights are prorated through about year 11.
- Product only; labor isn't included.
- The system must be registered within 30 days. We do that for you.

How to compare quotes fairly
Ask every company the same questions:
- Is that price all-in, including the controller, installation and tax?
- How many feet did you measure?
- How many LEDs are in each light? Is the white dedicated or mixed from RGB?
- How far apart are the lights?
- What does the warranty cover, for how long, and does it include labor?
- Who does the electrical work, and where does the controller go?
